This new 2013 'vintage' of the MONDIAL DE L’OPTIQUE (World Optical Fair) is buzzing with new exhibitors: almost 150 out of a total of 950 along with 1,350 brands from all over the world: a cross-cutting offering of optical frames and sunglasses, lenses, contact lenses, materials, store design and layout, services etc.  A comprehensive overview spread over a 80,000m2 exhibition area, enhanced by a programme of information and events dedicated to exhibitors and available also to visitors: SILMO d’OR AWARDS, MO by SILMO, SILMO ACADEMY, MERCHANSIDING WORKSHOP etc. with two new major innovations this year: Fashion Style and La Manufacture  

For the 20th consecutive edition, the jury chaired by designer Mathieu Lehanneur, has assigned the SILMO d’OR awards, celebrating creativity and innovation across 8 categories, plus a Jury's Special Award.

Online at silmoparis.com, and displayed on all the interactive terminals at the exhibition, the 7th edition of A successful 4th edition for Meeting a key concern for opticians, SILMO once again presents its MO by SILMO, the optic and eyewear industry's e-mag, offers a first look at the trends that will be showcased during SILMO 2013... with, as its focal point a review of the creative "radicalism" inspired by a large number of brands not afraid to make audacious choices and go all out to entice. SILMO ACADEMY which goes to show that professionals are very keen to obtain information and exchange views on visual heath. Offering keynote lectures and technical workshops, SILMO ACADEMY has now become a must-attend science colloquium whose themes this year include: Eye and light, Peripheral vision and Vision and Performance. MERCHANDISING WORKSHOP. Providing bespoke coaching by appointment, it offers one-to-one sessions with merchandising professionals along with daily presentations on the theme: "The keys to success at your point of sale – the customer pathway".

Because fashion is a major development goal for the optics and eyewear sector, SILMO presents for the very first time, FASHION STYLE, a vast forum extending over almost 1,000 m2 dedicated to men and women's fashion brands in the ready-to-wear and haute couture segments... an exclusive area bringing together a spectacular static fashion show of trending frames, showrooms where brands showcase clothes and accessories, and an audiovisual presentation playing on a loop revealing the fashion and eyewear universes in a forward-looking and creative context. Seen as an object of attraction, glasses too are sophisticated products – a fusion of design, expertise, materials and technology. Seeking to promote this reality, Silmo presents a first: LA MANUFACTURE is a forum designed and laid out in a studio-type setting, unveiling the season's new materials, colours and forms and placing the focus on the innovations presented by exhibitors.
