MEI leads the global market of edging machines for eyeglasses lenses.
Since its foundation, in the early nineties, the company has been driven by passion for innovation and dedication to the customer’s needs. MEI has distinguished itself designing and manufacturing visionary equipment for the lens edging process, whose robustness, reliability and flexibility has no comparison with any other available product.
The “thinking out of the box” inclination of the company, brought in the dry cut technology, which is used in all MEI edging machines, comes with many advantages over the oldfashioned grinding method. The dry cut technology has made the dream of the blockless edging a reality, giving the company the opportunity to become the leading manufacturer in its Field and the key supplier of edging machines for large lens corporations as well as for independent labs of any size all over the world.
The dry cut provided by the usage of small milling tools improves the quality of the edging process, reduces errors, reduces stress on the lens and the coatings and increases flexibility that makes it easy to cut also very complex shapes, which allows to compete in the modern market.
Driven by its mindful attention to the customer’s needs, today MEI offers a broad range of edgers of different size, different loading systems and different throughput, suitable for any kind of customer, from the optical shop up to the big fully automated industrial labs. The edgers are completely manufactured in Italy.
At MEI’s headquarters, very close to Milan, a team driven by passion of highly dedicated engineers, skilled technicians and service personnel, designs, produces and qualifies the machines, and provides life-long support to the customers for maximum usage of the products.
Beginning in 2007 the MEI service team has expanded its presence outside Italy to maximize the effectiveness of the technical support provided to the customers. MEI offices with service personnel for help desk and field activity, fully stocked with spare parts and equipped with demo machines are operational in several parts of the world. In the USA, MEI is present in Chicago IL and in Los Angeles CA, in Asia is present in Hong Kong, and for South America is present in São Paulo Brazil.

Born from MEI’s experience in manufacturing lens edging machines, the EASYFIT Trend is the new block-less compact solution tailored for optical shops and small labs. This new edger represents a further breakthrough for the field with its unique features, including: -the high precision and reliability of milling technology -the dry cut that allows you not to have and maintain a water filtering system -the ‘NoBlock’ system that eliminates blocks and pads. -

In combination with precision measuring technology for monitoring production, the highly innovative manufacturing method makes our concept unique.
