Glasses manufacturer ROLF was founded in 2009 in the heart of Austria’s Tyrolean Alps. The family company has become known for its unique wooden glasses, and has now supplemented its offering with eyewear made out of titanium, stone, horn, and plant-based materials – all without using any screws, thereby eliminating the need for any maintenance. In 2019, ROLF employed 39 people at its site in Weißenbach in the Tyrol region of Austria, and dispatched its glasses to more than 50 countries around the world. Founder and visionary Roland Wolf has already surprised the international eyewear market with several innovations related to his core product, starting with materials and moving on to production technology and design. The eyewear designer’s approach is to combine his love of nature with timeless styles and innovative technology, the success of which is evidenced by numerous awards, including the Silmo d’Or, the German Design Award, the Green Design Award, the Red Dot Award, and the Muse Design Award. But despite the international acclaim and awards, the creative company continues to manufacture in the home of the brand, by hand, and using natural resources, thereby remaining faithful to the guiding principle of the business: creating products that respect yesterday, work for today, and prepare for tomorrow.

The patented hinge has proven itself the ideal component. It can be printed at the same time as the frame using 3D printing technology, meaning the whole frame can be made all at once and therefore keep the number of external suppliers to a minimum. In addition to the high performance of the screw-less hinge, glasses wearers will also benefit from the flexible, natural, and skin-friendly properties of the plant-based frame.
Production begins with an innovative high-tech 3D printing process and ends with handcrafted finishing touches that transform our eyewear into a contemporary, sustainable work of art.
ROLF - stone eyewearROLF
The layered structure of the slate gives each section of stone a living appearance. This aspect of the stone makes each frame unique. The ROLF stone frame - a world novelty that was first presented at the 2011 Silmo trade fair in Paris to great excitement. INGENUITY AND VISION Figuring out how to make a stone frame is a headscratching affair. However, rising to the challenge of making eyewear from this difficult and unyielding material is quintessential ROLF Spectacles. The company developed new proprietary technologies in order to work with the stone without destroying its structure. Stone is a perfect complement to the wood frames, as it also has unique structures and color nuances that have been created over thousands of years.
ROLF - buffalo horn eyewearROLF
A small group of selected employees has developed new horn processing technologies in our factory in Austria. Now, we can do something that seemed unachievable at first - we bend a single plate of natural horn around the endpiece of the eyeglasses with a specially developed technology and refine it by hand. This creates the unique buffalo horn frame.
ROLF - plant-based eyewearROLF
The new substance collection of glasses by ROLF brings the power of plants to the fore. The starting point for the latest collection is a powder derived from a very specific plant. It brings with it a whole array of sustainable and functional properties that have enabled the tech- and design-driven company to develop innovative, plant-based eyewear.
Proud eyewear, the brand of compostable frames that makes you feel good on the inside, because you know that you are doing things well for yourself and for everyone; and on the outside because with its design you will not leave anyone indifferent.
Proud wants to be a benchmark as a brand of sustainable acetate frames. The concept of circular economy is not incompatible with design and quality, as we see in this multicolored compostable acetate frame.
The style of these sustainable glasses does not go unnoticed in this Valencian design that aims to become a benchmark for sustainable fashion. Proud only available at independent opticians.
