SILMO makes its debut in India

Loyal to its promise to play a facilitating role — supporting participating companies throughout the year —, SILMO, MONDIAL DE L’OPTIQUE (World Optical Fair) is exploring emerging markets.
From 2 - 4 February 2013, a SILMO VILLAGE will feature as part of the 10th edition of INOPTICS in New Delhi, India’s major professional optics and eyewear trade fair, whose organiser Mr Harish Kumar is an acknowledged expert in the sector. IN-OPTICS is expected to attract around 15,000 visitors.
Under the joint SILMO VILLAGE banner, the forty or so European companies taking partwill be able to take advantage of the Indian subcontinent's dynamic whose optics sector is worth over 2.9 billion euros, with annual growth of 30%, underpinned by some 45,000 optician outlets, including 600 high-end and 2,500 mid-range stores. This part of the world offers considerable growth potential. With around 10% of the population of 1.3 billion requiring glasses, combined with a high standard of living and the existence of an ageing population, favourable prospects are opened up for the sector. India is the world's 5th largest economy in terms of purchasing power and has the second-biggest GDP of the emerging nations after China.
This SILMO VILLAGE demonstrates the desire of the SILMO PARIS organisers to help companies export their expertise, promote their brands, meet professionals from all over the world and take advantage of buoyant markets. It is also one of the numerous initiatives undertaken throughout the year to promote the interests of the optics and eyewear sector, with SILMO PARIS providing a major gathering point every autumn for more than forty-five years.
