Electra is an electronic lens that adjusts its tint to the ambient light in less than 1 second, completely automatically and without using any battery. What does it actually do? Let’s say you are skiing downhill and it’s a sunny day. Then, you suddenly enter a shaded area. A normal lens would simply stay the same, but Electra detects the light change and adjusts its tint accordingly in less than a second, allowing you to see perfectly right from the first meters. Then the shaded area ends and you find yourself in the sun again: no problem. Electra detects it and adjusts its tint almost instantly. Electra is composed by a small solar cell that powers a proprietary chip and a special LC film. The chip works constantly to detect the ambient light and adjust the LC’s brightness accordingly. Electra can adopt any tint from 18% to 42% of transmittance, always providing the perfect light filter. Thanks to the lack of battery the whole mechanism is extremely light so the goggles weight only 5 grams more than regular ones. Plus, they never, ever, need to be charged. Electra has been elected by ISPO as best product in its category (sunglasses/ ski goggles) for the year 2021, and it was selected within the Amazon Innovation Awards as one of the 15 most innovative products in Europe.
